ECA Group which supplies the full spectrum of robotics solutions, unmanned or remotely operated vehicles in the air, on land and at sea, is showcasing its latest solutions at the ongoing Euronaval.
ECA Group has also been a drone specialist for more than 50 years.
Mine Counter Measures:
ECA Group offers interoperable systems capable of tackling the most demanding Mine Counter Measures and is the first to materialise the “stand-off concept”: Its systems efficiently locate, identify and neutralise underwater threats, while keeping crews at a stand-off distance from the mine field.
These systems will soon equip the Belgian and Royal Dutch navies and are already in use within several navies.
Naval mines are a very easy and cheap way to impact a nation’s economy by putting at risk men, equipment and coastal infrastructures. An additional threat remains from the large number of historical mines used during both World Wars have yet to be removed or neutralised
Seabed Warfare
The company offers advanced solutions for deep ocean survey & protection, with its A18 AUV range, offering the best balance for compactness, endurance, performance, modularity, data quality, innovation and competitiveness to operate up to 3000 m depth.
The firm’s latest innovative AUV milestone is the ultra-deep water AUV, which has been designed and produced in collaboration with the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea (Ifremer).
This AUV features numerous new technologies to accomplish disruptive mission scenarios associating long range multi-sensor surveying with event-driven close-to-seafloor hovering for optical ground truthing and local inspection. Designed for exploration of the deep ocean, it operates down to 6000m ocean depth for up to 48 hours.
Underwater monitoring is essential to ensure the integrity of the assets laying on the seabed (communication cables, pipelines etc.) and ECA Group addresses the dual requirements of scientific knowledge and military intelligence, with its range of AUVs.
Unmanned MCM Integrated System (UMIS)
The UMIS is an innovative and complete robotic system dedicated to MCM composed of ECA Group naval drones:
An advanced Command & Control System as well as a dedicated software suite, UMISOFT aid in the operation of these systems. UMIST can be integrated on board specialised vessels or non-dedicated ships. Its containerised version, UMISTM in the Box, can be deployed from the ships or directly from shore since it is both road and air transportable.
Naval architecture
The company MAURIC’s naval architecture expertise has helped in the design of next generation of defence and security vessels, which integrate ECA Group’s naval unmanned systems. ECA Group and MAURIC have jointly developed a range of motherships designed to operate robotics systems for civilian and military operations: OCTOPODA.
ECA Group and MAURIC also provide to navies and ship-owners modernisation solutions for the integration of robotics systems on-board existing vessels.
Carrying, deploying and recovering autonomous underwater drones by Unmanned Surface Vehicles directly on the theatre of operations allows optimising navies’ operability and range of action.
Its latest USV INSPECTOR 125 is a large USV capable of transporting, launching and recovering drones formerly reserved to larger crewed vessels. It is Sea proven, robust and capable of operating in a challenging environment.
Unmanned systems enable navies to keep safe their crews while operating effectively from distance (stand-off) as well as faster than with conventional means.
The company offers a complete and integrated solution of unmanned systems integration on-board mine hunters, survey or scientific vessels increasing navies’ fleet capability at a limited cost while keeping a high level of performance.
