A significant number of companies that attended the seventh edition of Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX) earlier this year have confirmed their participation in the eighth edition of the biennial event (DIMDEX 2024) that will take place from March 4-6, 2024, in Doha.
“In the recent years, we have seen the emergence of many innovations to address new challenges in the field of defence and security,” says Staff Brigadier (Sea) Abdulbaqi Al-Ansari, DIMDEX Chairman, in an interview. “We are excited to put forward such new products and services for the buyers to experience a more comprehensive platform at DIMDEX 2024. We believe that this will encourage not only a wider spectrum of exhibitors but also instill interest in more official delegations to attend the upcoming edition of DIMDEX.”
What is your lasting impression from the seventh edition of DIMDEX? Did it meet or exceed your expectations?
As organisers, we were overwhelmed and proud of the support DIMDEX 2022 received from the industry. The past few years have been unprecedented and brought significant challenges to many of us. Being one of the first few live events since the pandemic, we were glad to learn how eager our industry peers were to be part of DIMDEX 2022. This further reinforces the reputation of DIMDEX as a trusted and effective platform within the defence and security field. Many of the companies that attended DIMDEX 2022 have confirmed their participation in the next edition.
Did the DIMDEX Organising Committee factor in feedback from the international maritime defence and security community before finalising the dates for DIMDEX 2024?
Having been in the event industry for many years, we fully understand that feedback from participants is one of the major reasons for the success of an event, in addition to a methodical planning, preparation and execution of the show itself. Over the years, we have fostered a great bond and rapport with our clients. This gives us a better understanding of the needs of the exhibitors. Their input is of great value to us the organisers, and we are more than happy to go the extra mile to ensure their efficient and seamless participation at the upcoming event. We feel that the new dates – March 4-6 2024, will serve our participants’ best interest.
What will be some of the highlights of DIMDEX 2024?
At DIMDEX 2024, we will be introducing a business-to-business meeting system. As technology evolves, there is a growing demand for new collaborations between industry makers. The new initiative will assist in bridging innovators and startups with established manufacturers and service providers in the defence and security field. We trust that the B2B system will open doors and act as a catalyst for new cooperations. This will be in addition to the proven features of the exhibition such as the display of capabilities and products by domestic and international companies. The official VIP Delegation meeting platform, showcase of asset and technology by Visiting Warships, and the maritime defence-focused dialogue at MENC Conference.
Three countries – Pakistan, Croatia, and South Korea – made their DIMDEX debut in the seventh edition. Do you expect first time participants at DIMDEX 2024 as well?
Most definitely. We are constantly receiving interest from new participants, and with the recent relaxation of travel restrictions, we are anticipating a more diverse participation. We are always ready to welcome exhibitors from all corners of the world. We want them to experience unparalleled access to key decision makers from across the globe at DIMDEX 2024.
Qatar has embarked on a significant military modernization program. Do you expect that to impact the number of international companies that will attend DIMDEX 2024?
With the military modernisation programme taking centerstage, we do anticipate more international exhibitors to showcase their solutions to the Qatar key decision makers. This will be the best opportunity for international companies to effectively reach out to key decision makers by showcasing their new products and technology.
