Air Shows Increase in Number as Aviation Sector Grows in Vietnam

: Nov 16, 2022 - : 10:46 pm

At the beginning of November, people in Hanoi were amazed to witness Su-30MK2 fighters of the Vietnamese Air Force flying in the sky. The flight was part of a rehearsal activity of the service to prepare for the opening ceremony of Vietnam Defense 2022, which will take place from Dec. 8-10 at Gia Lam Airport, Hanoi.

Vietnam Defense 2022 is organized with the aim of creating opportunities for domestic manufacturers and leading suppliers in the world to introduce advanced equipment, weapons and technology systems in Vietnam.

Vietnam’s aviation industry has continuously demonstrated the attractiveness of the fastest growing market in the Asia-Pacific region through its recovery activities after the Covid-19 pandemic. Vietnamese airlines are expected to add 8,079 flights, equivalent to an increase of 32%, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year. Carriers are expected to operate a total of 33,691 flights from January 1 to February 5, 2023.

The swift recovery of the Vietnamese aviation and the potential for growth is one of the reasons why recent aviation exhibition events in Vietnam have attracted the attention and attendance of many international partners. The Gulfstream Airshow, jointly organized by Gulfstream and Sun Air at Van Don International Airport on Nov. 5-6, attracted the attention of many enterprises and entrepreneurs in the general aviation and luxury travel segments.

The interest shown by Gulfstream in the Vietnamese market shows that the segment of high-end customers who are willing to spend millions of dollars to own a private jet or enjoy private travel is not small. The promotion of general aviation development is an opportunity for Vietnam to create many new business models and contribute to bringing new job opportunities to the community.

Vietnam Defense 2022 and the Gulfstream Airshow are not the only air shows to be organized in the country this year. In September, Vietnam International Aviation Expo 2022, organized by Vietnam Aviation Exhibition Joint Stock Company, attracted thousands of visitors. The various air shows held in Vietnam in recent times have proved the attractiveness of the industry as well as the scale of the methodical and professional investment of Vietnamese organizations and enterprises in the sector.
