With Asia-Pacific countries increasing their defence spending over the next five years and maritime technologies evolving rapidly, the 12th edition of IMDEX Asia looks set to be the largest ever in terms of the number of deals signed.
The region’s premier maritime exhibition has grown from strength to strength
since its inaugural edition in 1997 and has now emerged as an unmatched platform for international firms to present their products and solutions to an audience comprising decision makers, buyers and officials from navies, agencies and maritime companies, not
only from the region but also worldwide.
“Over the years, IMDEX Asia has established itself as a leading naval and maritime security event in the Asia-Pacific region. It is now widely regarded as an important platform that brings together global decision-makers and thought leaders to connect, exchange insights, and explore new areas of collaboration,” said Mervyn TAN Chief Executive of Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA).
Over 10,000 visitors are expected for the latest edition of the show, building on the previous edition of the show held in 2019, which attractedclose to 10,000 visitors from 62 countries, along with 236 exhibitors from 30 countries. In a sign of the growing importance of the show and the market access it provides in the region, U.S. and Canadian pavilions will debut at the show. The 2019 edition of the show featured senior naval officers and government officials from every Asia-Pacific country.
IMDEX Asia will also be the venue for the 7th edition of International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC), which sits at the heart of every IMDEX Asia enabling an exchange of ideas between the world’s foremost maritime thinkers and military officials.
The three-day event will also welcome new naval vessels to the show’s highly sought after
Warship Display segment hosted at the Changi Naval Base. One of the Italian Navy’s newest warships, Francesco Morosini, will participate in the Warship Display, Singapore being its first port call in Asia out of the warship’s five month long global campaign.
A new innovation at the show that caters to rapid technological developments and evolving
needs is the “What’s Next” programme that puts the spotlight firmly on innovative
startups. For this year’s event, the show organizers have announced an official partnership
with Starburst, the world’s first and only global aerospace and defence startup accelerator
and strategic advisory practice. What’s Next will feature the inaugural IMDEX Asia Innovation Challenge for promising start-ups to pitch and exhibit at IMDEX Asia 2023
