Emirates Chief Not Happy With Rolls Royce

Our Bureau - : Nov 15, 2023 - : 4:03 am

Emirates President Sir Tim Clark said the airline will not be ordering the Airbus A350-1000 because the Rolls Royce engine will not do what the airline wants it to do from a cycle perspective.

Sir Tim said that Emirates needed the Rolls engine to perform 2500 cycles on the wing before maintenance and at an acceptable ongoing maintenance cost.

“The A350 is a very good aircraft,” said Sir Tim but that Rolls Royce and Airbus needed to resolve the durability issue to Emirates standards.

On Boeing, Sir Tim added that he is satisfied that the US and European regulator’s issues have settled down and that the 777X will be delivered in June 2025.

However, Sir Tim is mystified about the continued delays in the aerospace supply chain.
“I can’t understand what the issue is,” said Sir Tim.

He said that the manufacturers need to take a deep dive into the supply chain issue and get it fixed and stop making excuses.
