Our Bureau - : Feb 20, 2024 - : 2:25 am

The C919, China’s self-developed large passenger aircraft, is making its maiden appearance at an international air show.

The trunk jetliner is built in accordance with international airworthiness standards and owns independent intellectual property rights.

The C919 project was launched in 2007. Developed by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), the first aircraft rolled off the production line in Shanghai in November 2015. The aircraft is also participating in the flying display.

The aircraft made its first venture outside mainland China in mid-December 2023 when it landed in Hong Kong. In 2017, the plane accomplished its maiden flight.

“The C919 will get better and better if it stands the test of the market,” said Zhang Xiaoguang, director of the marketing and sales department of COMAC. In July last, COMAC delivered the second narrow-body single-aisle passenger plane to Shanghai-based China Eastern Airlines. The first operational C919 airframe was delivered to China Eastern Airlines in December 2022.
