Boeing’s Defence, Space & Security counts Qatar as one of its most important customers in the region, with the Qatar Emiri Air Force operating advanced F-15QA fighter jets, AH-64 Apache attack helicopters and C-17 Globemaster III Heavylift transports. Boeing is providing in-country spare parts, maintenance, training, programme management and logistics support for the above platforms and is working closely with the Qatar Emiri Air Force.
In an exclusive interaction with GBP Daily News, Vincent Logsdon Vice president, Global Business Development and Strategic Marketing for Boeing’s Defence, Space & Security and Global Services business units, outlined the company’s role in sustaining Qatar’s sophisticated military platforms and regional opportunities for unmanned maritime surveillance systems.
“At DIMDEX 2024, we are showcasing our sustainment capabilities, including digital aviation solutions, parts, and distribution services, and more. A key focus is on Boeing’s Next Generation Product Support, which will benefit operators that are looking to leverage Performance Based Logistics (PBL) to maximize mission readiness and reduce costs,” Logsdon said. These PBL-based support tools often incorporate data analytics services to assist regional air forces with making informed maintenance, supply chain and operations decisions, he added.
Commenting on market opportunities for unmanned systems in the maritime surveillance arena, Logsdon said Boeing was witnessing strong global demand for maritime patrol and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities as militaries invest in maritime awareness and security. “Our autonomous systems portfolio continues to resonate with many global customers operating the ScanEagle, Integrator and Wave Glider developed and supported by Boeing subsidiaries Insitu and Liquid Robotics. Insitu has been a leader in uncrewed aircraft innovation for 30 years and has a strong relationship with our customers in the Middle East,” Logsdon added.
The ScanEagle UAS has been in operation since 2004 and is a battle-tested platform used extensively in the Middle East region. It offers enhanced capabilities, especially in maritime environments. The proven, long-endurance, and autonomous solution with a wide range of mission sets has accumulated over 1.3 million operational hours.
