British Army Eyes Partnership with Qatar for Boxer IFV

Our Bureau - : Mar 5, 2024 - : 12:12 am

The British Army is eyeing the modernisation of the Qatar Armed Forces with an offer of the Boxer family of highly mobile, protected and modular 8X8 wheeled vehicles. Speaking to GBP Daily News, a British Army officer said, “Our offer at DIMDEX is to have other nations join our partnership. We would like to work with other nations and would rather be part of a team, than standing alone.”

The British Army has been working with the Qatar Armed Forces over the last four years, the officer said, adding that military personnel from Qatar had visited the UK to learn more about the Boxer IFV. The Qatar Army has a longstanding requirement for an 8X8 wheeled vehicle.

The Boxer is a highly-protected 8×8 wheeled armoured vehicle. Its modular architecture enables a greater number of variants than any other vehicle system. The British Army has a total of 623 Boxer IFVs on order and the vehicle is also in service with the armies of Germany, Netherlands, Lithuania, and Australia.
