South African defence firm Denel is presenting its portfolio of guided weapons and land defence systems at the show. “Denel has long-standing ties with the defence community in Malaysia and we will use DSA24 to consolidate our foothold and grow our presence in Southeast Asia and beyond,” said Tsepo Monaheng, the Group CEO of Denel.

The state-owned company’s wide portfolio of landward combat and mine-protected vehicles will be displayed to visitors and decision-makers who visit the stand. “Through our historic partnerships with Malaysia we have built a strong reputation in the broader Asian region and the quality of our turrets, long-range artillery and mine-resistant vehicles is well-respected,” said Monaheng.

He added that the company enjoys a global reputation for land defence products, and its guided weapons systems compete with the rest of the world at a time when there is a significant increase in demand for innovative and cost-effective products.” One of Denel’s signature products is the Umkhonto missile which has been constantly upgraded over the last 20 years to incorporate the latest technology. The Umkhonto Surface-To-Air Missile (SAM) can be launched from naval vessels or ground-based launchers which can be configured to carry up to eight missiles. The missile travels at over twice the speed of sound.

Also, on display is Denel’s Ingwe Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) which can be launched from helicopters and armoured fighting vehicles. Touted as a portable and cost-effective ATGM, it can engage targets out to ranges of 5 km. It makes use of a jam-resistant, laser beam-riding guidance system.

Denel’s RG41 is a new generation combat vehicle that meets demanding firepower, mobility, and protection requirements, with the emphasis on combat power. It is a highly mobile, wheeled combat vehicle that is most suitable for modern warfare.
