Exail has been selected by Naval Group to supply navigation systems for the French Navy’s Ocean Patrol Vessels (OPVs) as part of a program led by the French Directorate General of Armament (DGA). The program aims to renew the high seas patrol vessels stationed in Brest and Toulon, as well as public service patrol vessels based in Cherbourg.
Under this partnership, Exail will provide Phins Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) and Netans Data Distribution Units (DDU) to enhance the navigation capabilities of the OPVs. The Phins INS, known for its resilience to signal disruptions, will improve navigational precision and situational awareness in a variety of maritime environments. Utilizing Exail’s Fiber Optic Gyroscope technology, the system is designed to be durable and requires minimal maintenance, making it suitable for coastal surveillance missions. The Netans system will supply the vessels with consistent and reliable navigation data, while addressing safety and cybersecurity concerns.

The company’s latest contract builds on its existing role within the French Navy, having equipped over 70% of the fleet, and complements other projects such as Flotlog, the FDI frigates, and the BSAOM support vessels.
