Havelsan Keen on Growing Global Footprint

Our Bureau - : Sep 24, 2024 - : 6:12 pm

Havelsan, which has established itself as a major player in Türkiye’s growing defence industry, is keen on expanding its global footprint and is showcasing a range of capabilities at the ongoing event.

Earlier this year, the company signed a contract with Romania for the sale of its MATRA Coastal Surveillance and Vessel Traffic Management Software as part of the Romanian Integrated Maritime Surveillance System (SCOMAR) Modernization Project. The company is optimistic of MATRA, which meet the needs of monitoring border areas and detecting security threats, finding more international buyers.

Romania’s existing SCOMAR system will be equipped with MATRA by introducing new technology radar, electro-optic systems, and IT hardware, all without any service interruption while the current system is operational. The system, which is scheduled to be delivered within 24 months, will provide maritime situational awareness to law enforcement by creating a live maritime picture in the 100 nautical mile area, including Romania’s Black Sea coastline, regional, intermediate area, and exclusive economic zone.
Options for Naval Defence

Havelsan plays a critical role in Türkiye’s naval defence capabilities, having developed its Combat Management System (CMS) and Submarine Information Distribution System (DBDS) developed for a wide range of naval platforms. The CMS, a versatile system that can support a variety of naval platforms such as surface ships and submarines, enhance the operational efficiency and interoperability of the Turkish Navy. The company believes that CMS and DBDS will find international buyers.

According to the company, DBDS is virtually the heart of submarines and surface ships, and acts as the backbone for data flow between the different systems on board the submarine. The system ensures seamless communication between units by gathering and distributing data from sensors and other systems in real-time, enabling all units to operate on the same information. The CMS, which acts as the brain of navies, manages the submarine’s tactical and operational capabilities. The CMS processes sensor data and weapon system inputs, allowing the submarine to respond to combat scenarios with precision and efficiency.
