Officials from the Oman Munition Production Company (OMPC), one of the leading national companies in the Sultanate of Oman are visiting the ongoing SAHA Expo, eyeing greater partnerships in Turkey and the surrounding region.
OMPC was established to support the Sultanate of Oman’s defence and security sectors by providing munitions and technical services. Speaking to Daily News, company officials say that OMPC is seeking and also offering technical advisory services as also various options for raw material required for munitions. These efforts are part of the Sultanate’s endeavors to enhance local capabilities in the defence industries to rely on providing high-quality munitions for local and global customers, and achieve self-sufficiency in manufacturing munitions and military equipment.
OMPC offers a wide range of munitions that meet the needs of small and medium weapons, including:5.56 mm ammunition and 5.56 X 45MM NATO SS109, which is the standard ammunition used in assault rifles; 5.56 X 45MM (M193) which is the standard military ammunition for light weapons; 5.56 X 45MM (M200) Blank ammunition, which are used in military training and simulations and 5.56 X 45MM 69GR HPBT ammunition which is designed specifically for long-range shooting and precision.
OMPC offers various types of 7.62 mm ammunition. The 7.62 X 51MM BALL (M80) is the standard ball ammunition used in rifles and machine guns and is known for its high penetration ability, while 7.62 X 51MM (M82) Blank ammunition is used in military training. The 7.62 X 51MM HBPT 168GR Sniper ammunition is designed specifically for long-range sniping, while the 7.62 X 51MM Tracer is illuminating ammunition that allows for tracking the bullet’s trajectory during night shooting. OMPC also produces two types of 9 mm ammunition; 9 X 19MM 115GR PARA, which is the standard ammunition used in pistols and the 9 X 19MM 124GR/115GR LUGER ammunition which is used in pistols and submachine guns, offering high accuracy and power.
OMPC has also invested in acquiring the latest European inspection equipment, considered among the best in the world. These devices enable the company to conduct precise tests on munitions to ensure their quality and safety, thereby increasing customer confidence in the company’s products.
