Airbus Delivers First A400M Aircraft to Kazakhstan

Our Bureau - : Dec 11, 2024 - : 11:23 pm

Airbus Defence and Space has delivered the first Airbus A400M aircraft to the Republic of Kazakhstan, which will form the backbone of the country’s tactical and strategic airlift operations. The delivery took place at a ceremony held in Almaty, following a ferry flight from the A400M Final Assembly Line in Seville, Spain, a few days earlier.

Jean-Brice Dumont, Head of Air Power at Airbus Defence and Space, commented: “Having demonstrated its reliability in military and humanitarian missions globally over the past decade, the A400M offers significant tactical and strategic capabilities in a single platform for the Kazakh Air Defence Forces. The second A400M, currently under construction, will further bolster these capabilities when delivered in 2026.”

With the handover of this first aircraft (MSN139), Airbus will also provide extensive maintenance and training support to Kazakhstan.

Globally, over 130 A400Ms have been delivered to nine nations, with a total of 200,000 flight hours accumulated. The aircraft have taken part in critical missions, including evacuating civilians and military personnel from Afghanistan, Sudan, and Niger. The A400M’s dual capabilities allow it to transport heavy and oversized cargo to short, unprepared airstrips, operate at low altitudes, and drop up to 116 paratroopers or carry 25 tonnes of cargo.
