Rheinmetall to Deliver 20 More Marder IFV to Ukraine

Our Bureau - : Dec 17, 2024 - : 10:30 pm

Rheinmetall, a Düsseldorf-based defence company, has received an order to supply an additional 20 Marder 1A3 infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) to Ukraine. The vehicles are scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2025, with the costs covered by the German government. The order is valued at a mid-range double-digit million euro amount.

The Marder 1A3 variant features a laser rangefinder to enhance targeting precision. Rheinmetall previously delivered the first batch of 20 Marder vehicles to Ukraine in March 2023, followed by additional shipments, each numbering in the double digits. In total, the company has supplied hundreds of these vehicles to the Ukrainian armed forces.

Rheinmetall began refurbishing Marder 1A3 vehicles from its own inventory in spring 2022, funding the work independently. The refurbishment process has been carried out at the company’s facilities in Unterlüß and Kassel, enabling the vehicles to be deployed immediately upon delivery.
