Rheinmetall to Supply 155mm Propellant Charges to Ukraine

Our Bureau - : Dec 18, 2024 - : 11:17 pm

Rheinmetall has received an order from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence for the supply of 155mm artillery propellant charge modules. The contract, valued at approximately EUR 9 million, was confirmed in the fourth quarter of 2024, with delivery scheduled for January 2025.

The agreement includes the provision of several tens of thousands of propellant charge modules of various types. These modules, used in modern artillery systems, allow for the adjustment of projectile ranges as they are loaded separately from the projectiles themselves.

Rheinmetall, a global manufacturer of large-calibre ammunition and propellant systems, has been providing significant support to Ukraine’s defence efforts. The company describes itself as a key partner to Ukraine in its ongoing defence against Russian aggression.

During the Ukraine Recovery Conference held in Berlin in 2024, Rheinmetall and Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance their strategic partnership. The agreement outlines plans to explore additional areas of collaboration between Rheinmetall and Ukraine’s defence industry.

Planned initiatives include the production of artillery ammunition and the delivery and possible domestic production of Lynx infantry fighting vehicles. Rheinmetall aims to contribute to Ukraine’s long-term defence capability by supporting the revitalisation of local manufacturing expertise alongside its direct deliveries.
