Saudia Earns Top Global On-Time Performance Rankings

Our Bureau - : Jan 10, 2025 - : 10:48 pm

Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, has achieved notable global rankings for on-time performance in 2024, according to the independent aviation tracking service, Cirium. The airline ranked first globally for departure on-time performance (OTP), recording a punctuality rate of 88.82%. It narrowly missed the top spot in arrival OTP, securing second place with a rate of 86.35%.

In the past year, Saudia operated 192,560 flights across its network of over 100 destinations in four continents.

Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group, highlighted the achievement as a reflection of the airline’s commitment to operational excellence, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy and the National Aviation Sector Strategy. He also credited the dedication of Saudia Group employees and the integrated efforts across various sectors in maintaining operational efficiency, which directly impacts customer experience.

He noted that Saudia’s operational plans, particularly during peak seasons, demonstrated the airline’s ability to effectively manage challenges and maximise resource use, including its modern fleet and predictive digital systems driven by artificial intelligence.

In 2024, Saudia topped the global on-time performance rankings in June, July, and November. The airline continues to focus on maintaining high standards in aviation safety and quality while enhancing the customer experience through unique services and products.

Currently, Saudia operates over 530 flights daily, connecting destinations worldwide with a fleet of 144 aircraft. These efforts support Saudi Vision 2030, especially in the tourism, entertainment, sports, and pilgrimage sectors.

Looking ahead, Saudia plans to expand its fleet by adding 130 new aircraft, aiming to increase flight frequencies and seat capacity, while introducing new routes to its network.
