ADAS 2024 to Showcase Philippine Defence Modernisation Efforts

Our Bureau - : Aug 30, 2024 - : 12:31 am

The 5th Asian Defense and Security Exhibition (ADAS) is set to take place from 25 to 27 September 2024 at the World Trade Centre in Manila, Philippines. This biennial event, organised by APAC Expo, is held with the support of the Office of the President, the Department of National Defense, the National Security Council, and Bagong Pilipinas. This year marks the 10th anniversary of ADAS in the Philippines.

Under the theme “Building on a Decade of Defense Capability,” ADAS will focus on the next phase of the Philippines’ military modernisation efforts, showcasing developments across the Navy, Air Force, and Army. The event aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements in defence technology and capabilities.

The ADAS Symposium will bring together experts from government, industry, and academia to discuss topics such as asymmetric warfare, cybersecurity, and national defence strategies. The exhibition will feature over 250 companies and 15 country pavilions, and participation has grown by 35% since the 2022 edition. Approximately 15,000 attendees, including senior government officials, military professionals, and industry leaders, are expected to attend to share knowledge and discuss emerging defence solutions and strategies.

“The Philippine defense department is focusing on speedily building up capabilities, systems, and skill sets, in order to meet the interoperability skills towards the credible deterrence necessary under the Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept (CADC),” stated the Department of National Defense. They also emphasised the need for advancements in areas such as cyber defence and information security to keep pace with the evolving security landscape.

“Given the scale and number of Islands within the Philippines and its geographic position, it is imperative to continue rebuilding its defense capability with ongoing modernisation programmes. The ongoing defense modernisation focuses on all three services – visitors can experience the industry’s largest suppliers showcasing their latest equipment to Land Forces, Air and Navy,” said Andrew Marriott, Managing Director of ADAS.

As part of the event, the symposium will also highlight the Philippines’ National Cyber Security Month in September, offering a platform for discussions on drone warfare and counter-drone technologies based on experiences from other countries.
