Air Astana Group to Lease Seven A321neo LR Jets

Our Bureau - : Jul 31, 2024 - : 2:00 am

Air Astana Group, the leading airline conglomerate in Central Asia and the Caucasus, has signed an agreement with Air Lease Corporation (ALC) to lease seven Airbus A321neo LR aircraft.

This significant transaction, approved by the Group’s Board on 25 July 2024 and was signed on 26 July 2024, will see the aircraft delivered from 2026. This move aligns with Air Astana Group’s strategy to expand its fleet to 80 aircraft by the end of 2028.

The Group currently operates a fleet of 54 aircraft, with Air Astana, its full-service airline, and FlyArystan, its low-cost carrier. The full-service airline, established in 2002, provides extensive scheduled, point-to-point, and transit flights covering domestic, regional, and international routes across Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Far East, the Middle East, India, and Europe. FlyArystan, launched in 2019, continues to grow its presence in the low-cost segment.

In addition to the recent A321neo LR deal, Air Astana has been actively modernising its fleet. The airline has secured leases for three Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners from ALC in 2022, with deliveries expected between early 2025 and spring 2026. These aircraft will support Air Astana’s long-haul operations and enhance passenger comfort. The 787-9 Dreamliners are intended to replace older Boeing 767-300s, reflecting the airline’s commitment to modernising its fleet and improving operational efficiency.
