AirAsia is set to expand its route network between Malaysia and Indonesia with the launch of its 21st direct route between the two countries. This new service, featuring three weekly flights starting on 3 September 2024, will mark AirAsia Malaysia’s inaugural international flight to Labuan Bajo, Indonesia.

Bookings are available on AirAsia MOVE (formerly airasia Superapp) and airasia.com until 14 July 2024, for travel between 3 September 2024 and 29 March 2025.

Currently, AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK) operates flights to 13 destinations in Indonesia, including Kertajati, Banda Aceh, Jakarta, Bali (Denpasar), Medan, Padang, Pekanbaru, Makassar, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Balikpapan from Kuala Lumpur, as well as from Penang to Jakarta and Medan.

AirAsia Indonesia (flight code QZ) serves 11 routes in Malaysia, flying from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching; from Bali to Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu; from Medan to Kuala Lumpur and Penang; from Lombok to Kuala Lumpur; and from Surabaya to Johor Bahru.

Labuan Bajo, formerly a quaint fishing village, has transformed into a popular tourist destination for its natural beauty and cultural richness. It serves as the gateway to the nearby Komodo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site home to the famous Komodo dragons.

The park also features Pink Beach, renowned for its unique colour and one of only seven such beaches in the world. The area’s stunning landscapes, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant coral reefs attract travellers interested in adventure, diving, and island-hopping experiences.
