American boosts Embraer

: Jan 10, 2014 - : 1:01 pm

The newly-reborn American Airlines has ordered 60 Embraer E175 jets with options for another 90. The order, worth US$2.5 billion at list price, will be delivered in Q1 2015. “It’s been an exciting week for American Airlines,” said Kenji Hashimoto, American Airlines SVP, regional.

“These new regional jets … will greatly improve economic efficiencies by lowering operating costs.” The 76-seater aircraft will be configured with a three-class cabin, 12 First Class, 20 Extra and 44 Cabin places, and will include updates including new wingtips, optimised nav systems, and aerodynamic tweaks that should cut fuel burn by up to 5%.
