A recent ANA advert showing Japanese staff wearing blond wigs and false noses has been pulled after complaints. Critics noted the advert suggested negative racial stereotyping, although ANA protested it was merely designed to showcase international capabilities.
An ANA spokesperson apologised, noting that “it was not our intention to cause offence and we apologize to anyone who was upset by the advertisement. We thank customers for bringing up the issue,” they added.
