Asia Pacific Airlines Meet in Brunei to Discuss Sustainable Growth

Our Bureau - : Nov 13, 2024 - : 8:15 pm

Brunei hosted the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) 68th Assembly of Presidents, where industry leaders reviewed the region’s air transport progress and addressed ongoing challenges, including supply chain disruptions impacting the delivery of aircraft, engines, and other components. The theme of this year’s assembly, “Future Proofing Asian Aviation,” reflected a focus on the aviation sector’s recovery and strategies for long-term growth.

A major focus of the gathering was the industry’s path towards sustainable aviation. Experts representing airlines, airports, aircraft manufacturers, government bodies, and sustainable aviation fuel suppliers explored measures to achieve carbon neutrality. Their insights will inform resolutions expected to be announced at the close of the assembly.

The event also highlighted growth opportunities in emerging markets across Asia. With regional economies set to expand in the coming years, airline leaders discussed a vision for sustainable, seamless, and accessible air travel for future generations.

Reflecting on the choice of location, Mr Subhas Menon, Director General of AAPA, remarked, “Brunei is an ideal setting for the Assembly this year. Its rich natural habitat provides an inspirational backdrop to discussions on how air travel of the future could look. As we embark on the 68th Assembly of Presidents, we are focused on what lies ahead, with the lessons of the past four years serving as a springboard for discussions on the future of air travel in the world’s largest aviation market.”
