Supacat has been awarded a contract for the delivery of special operations vehicles – commando (SOV-Cdo) to the Australian Defence Forces (ADF).
Awarded by the Australian Defence Material Organisation (DMO), the $105 milion contract requires the company to supply a total of 89 SOV-Cdo vehicles under the JP2097 Ph 1B (REDFIN) programme.
The agreement follows the successful completion of the prototype development and evaluation phase, during which the company built and delivered the SOV-Cdo prototype.
Based on the latest Mk2 version of Supacat’s HMT Extenda, the new SOV-Cdo vehicle is designed to address specific ADF requirements.
Under the contract, the company will deliver the vehicles in four reconfigurable roles, emphasising the flexibility of the HMT platform.
HMT Extenda is designed for use by Special Forces, and can be readily converted to either a 4×4 or 6×6 configuration by fitting or removing a modular, self-contained third axle unit.
The vehicle’s open architecture provides various levels of protection and enables integration of a range of mission hampers, weapons, communications and force protection equipment for varied operational roles.
