BAE Systems Highlights Close Partnership with Qatar Armed Forces

BAE Systems is showcasing its close partnership with the Qatar Armed Forces at the ongoing DIMDEX and highlighting efforts to build local capabilities with the nation’s industry.

“This event is an ideal opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to the Qatar Armed Forces and to further develop strong partnerships. DIMDEX is a good opportunity to showcase our capabilities and pave the way for further collaboration,” said Steve Kelly, BAE Systems Regional Managing Director for the Middle East North Africa (MENA).

BAE Systems is showcasing its specialist maritime capabilities in ship building, warship support (Maintenance Repair and Overhaul), and naval base management services that ensure warship availability and performance that can increase Qatar’s naval capabilities to protect its sovereign interests. 

BAE Systems has been contracted to provide the Qatari Emiri Air Force (QEAF) with advanced Typhoon fighter jets and Hawk jet trainers, in addition to bespoke support and training solutions. The Government of Qatar, contracted BAE Systems for the delivery of 24 Typhoon aircraft and nine Hawk advanced jet trainers, along with a six-year availability support service. BAE Systems will deliver live and synthetic training flying as well as availability support through its Qatari joint venture company, BSL. The QEAF is to take delivery of its first Typhoon aircraft later this year and MS001, the first production aircraft to come out of BAE’s Typhoon Final Assembly facility for the QEAF, made its maiden flight in November last year. 

BAE Systems is also showcasing its wide range of solutions for use across land, sea, and air such as its world-leading Striker II Digital Helmet, which provides a dramatic increase in combat capability to aircraft like Typhoon and F-15QA through its large daylight readable colour display and seamless 24/7 capability via its integrated night vision. The company is also showcasing its Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV), which offers rugged durability and superior mobility for transporting troops and cargo from ship to shore.
