Batik Air (flight code ID) is set to introduce a new international flight route connecting Pekanbaru, Indonesia to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The route from Pekanbaru will operate from Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport (PKU) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL). This new route aims to provide greater convenience and flexibility for passengers, particularly those travelling for Umrah, tourism, or business.

“Through this new route, Umrah pilgrims can easily access connecting flights to Jeddah or Medina from Kuala Lumpur. This is a highly beneficial option for residents of Pekanbaru and surrounding areas wishing to perform Umrah,” stated Danang Mandala Prihantoro, Corporate Communications Strategic of Batik Air, as quoted by detik.com on Monday (Jul. 29).

Danang also highlighted that the Pekanbaru – Kuala Lumpur route is an attractive option for international travellers to and from Indonesia. Passengers can utilise connections from Kuala Lumpur to explore various destinations in Malaysia, such as Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu, each offering unique cultural and natural attractions.

Additionally, the airline’s Malaysian subsidiary, Batik Air Malaysia (flight code OD) will launch a non-stop route from Padang, Indonesia, to Kuala Lumpur. The journey from Padang to Kuala Lumpur will take approximately 60 minutes, offering a swift and comfortable travel option for the community, business people, and tourists.

“This new route is part of Batik Air’s commitment to facilitating international travel and providing the best service for passengers. The availability of the Padang-Kuala Lumpur route is expected to enhance mobility and support economic growth and tourism in West Sumatra,” said Danang.

As an international hub, Kuala Lumpur offers easy access to numerous popular destinations worldwide, including Dubai, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Incheon, Japan, Australia, India, Bangladesh, and more.

These two new routes will become operational on 10 August 2024.
