BHIC AeroServices Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation Bhd (BHIC), has been awarded a five-year contract worth MYR 378 million by the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) to provide in-service support (ISS) for the Royal Malaysian Air Force's (RMAF) EC725 helicopters.
The contract, which was formalised upon acceptance and signing of the letter of award by BHIC AeroServices, includes a range of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for the MYR AF's fleet.
The company is a joint venture involving BHIC’s wholly-owned subsidiary, BHIC Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd, holding 51% equity, Prestige Pillar Sdn Bhd with 30%, and Airbus Helicopter Malaysia Sdn Bhd with 19%.
BHIC anticipates that this contract will have a positive impact on its financial performance from 2024 to 2029.
Sevvale Sarvaesvaran, CEO of BHIC AeroServices, stated that the contract demonstrates MinDef’s confidence in the company’s capabilities as a preferred MRO centre for Airbus EC725 helicopters in Malaysia. He noted that the agreement would further enhance BHIC AeroServices' role in providing MRO services for Airbus Helicopter products.
BHIC CEO Feroz Razi Ramli added that the contract reflects the government's trust in the group's ability to maintain military assets, and he expects it to contribute positively to the group's earnings over the next five years, reinforcing its financial stability and growth prospects.
In July 2023, MinDef also awarded BHIC AeroServices a supplementary 12-month extension contract, valued at MYR 115.3 million, for continued maintenance and spare parts supply for the same helicopters. This extension covers the period from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024.
BHIC AeroServices operates from its facility at the Malaysian International Aerospace Centre in Subang, Selangor, which serves as the only one-stop Airbus Helicopter Service Centre in Malaysia. The centre offers comprehensive MRO services, including maintenance, spare parts sales, refurbishment, modification, technical support, and training.
