Boeing is exhibiting models of its H-47 Chinook, MH-139 Grey Wolf helicopters in addition to ScanEagle Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) and Wave Glider Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (USV) at the ongoing Vietnam Defence Expo.

“Boeing’s presence at the Vietnam International Defence Expo is an exciting step forward in our growing partnership with the government,” said Michael Nguyen, managing director for Boeing Vietnam. “For the first time in Vietnam, Boeing will be displaying a wide range of leading defence and security capabilities that can also provide humanitarian assistance during times of trouble.”

Boeing’s partnership with Vietnam spans close to 30 years and the company has a corporate office in Hanoi, along with field service offices in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vietnamese Coast Guard currently operates six ScanEagle UAS’. The induction of the long endurance UAS has transformed Vietnam’s Intelligence, Surveillance, And Reconnaissance (ISR) capability in both defence and commercial applications. Vietnam acquired the ScanEagle UAV in 2019 via a U.S. Foreign Military Sales (FMS) deal. The ScanEagle is manufactured by Insitu, a wholly owned subsidiary of Boeing. Some of the operators of this UAS system in the region, include Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia.

Boeing is displaying a wide range of leading defence and security capabilities at the show, that can also provide humanitarian assistance during times of trouble.

Boeing is promoting the H-47 Chinook heavy-lift helicopter, which is in use with 21 operators, as the ideal solution for performing cargo and troop transport, search and rescue, casualty evacuation, special operations, humanitarian and disaster relief, etc.

The new MH-139 Grey Wolf multi-mission helicopter is based off the proven Leonardo Helicopters AW139 and fitted with custom military equipment by Boeing. It is capable of a wide variety of missions to include patrol, search and rescue, VIP and troop and cargo transport.

The Wave Glider is a long-duration and highly durable USV is designed and manufactured by Liquid Robotics, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company. The Wave Glider can host or tow a range of sensors, giving customers access to real-time maritime data.
