Airbus Helicopters has secured a contract with Brunei’s Ministry of Defence for the procurement of six H145M helicopters.

“We are greatly honoured by the selection of the H145M to support the Royal Brunei Air Force’s expanded missions,” said Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters. “(It) is well regarded for its high performance and versatility, and we are confident that it will bring a step change in operational readiness to Brunei.”

The acquisition of these helicopters by Brunei replaces its previous BO105 fleet. These new helicopters will serve to enhance the country air force’s capabilities across various missions, including close air support and aerial observation.

The H145M is touted as a multi-role military helicopter offering a wide array of mission capabilities. With a global fleet having amassed over seven million flight hours, it is utilised by armed forces, air forces, and law enforcement agencies worldwide for diverse and demanding tasks.

Brunei joins a list of nations, including Cyprus, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Serbia, and Thailand, in acquiring the H145M.

The helicopter is powered by two Turbomeca Arriel 2E engines featuring full authority digital engine control (FADEC). The helicopter is equipped with the Helionix digital avionics suite, including a 4-axis autopilot and flight data management, claimed to significantly reduce pilot workload during missions. Airbus Helicopters also claims that the helicopter is the quietest in its class due to its low acoustic footprint.
