Certification testing for new 787 battery system completed

Boeing has completed the final certification test for the new 787 battery system with a demonstration flight on a Boeing-owned production plane built for LOT Polish Airlines.

The flight, which was meant to demonstrate that the new battery system performs as intended during normal and non-normal flight conditions, marks the completion of the testing required by the FAA.

The aircraft, which was carrying a crew of 11 people including two FAA representatives, flew for an hour and 49 minutes, and the crew said the flight was uneventful.
