Cobham helps Saab out with SATCOM

: Feb 14, 2014 - : 9:49 pm

Cobham is providing a SATCOM in-flight connectivity system to Saab for its 340 Maritime Surveillance Aircraft (MSA). The system in question is the lightweight Aviator 350 SwiftBroadband solution replete with HGA-7000 high-gain antenna. The HGA-7000 is a phased-array fuselage-mounted antenna with a low profile and small footprint that makes it well suited to transport and business jets.

This particular type of Saab 340 aircraft was on display at the Singapore Air Show, as part of its Asian promotional tour.

Cobham’s SATCOM system offers critical communication applications (e.g. voice, data-link and video streaming) onboard the surveillance aircraft, which is ideally suited to the needs of regional countries wishing to better police their waters. Apparently the aircraft is attracting a lot of interest regionally, now that the Saab 340 MSA has completed its certification procedure.
