Turkish company Compact Mine Technologies (COMIT) has brought the world’s lightest foldable mine detector to the ongoing show.

Developed and produced by TUBITAK, CMT-100 is equipped with unique features such as lightness, detection sensitivity, ergonomic structure, and adjustable ground balancing by using Ozan Technology. Fatih Mestan, COMIT Business Development Director, said that CMT-100 is easy to use and has a compact and user-friendly design. The weight, including batteries, is just 1.5 kg.

“CMT-100 was introduced two years ago and has proved to be very popular both in Türkiye and abroad,” Mestan said. “It is being used by the Turkish Army and also in Azerbaijan, Sudan and Turkmenistan. We want to find new international customers for the product.”

The foldable mine detector, which is indigenously made, works on two AA batteries. Apart from mine scanning activities i military operations, it is also used for border security, road and land scanning, civil defence, and United Nations mine clearance activities. “The battery lasts for 12 hours. In 2025, we are planning to introduce CMT-100G, which will have a lithium iron battery life of 20 hours. There will be no difference in weight,” said Mestan.

The company is also highlighting the capabilities of the slightly heavier Alper hand-held mine detection system. The new generation metallic/plastic mine and IED detection system weighs 3.5 kg and can operate in challenging military conditions of any kind. Alper contains both metal detector (EMI) and ground penetrating radar (GPR) sensors.

“Alper is in high demand among militaries,” said Mestan. “Depending on the intended use, the EMI and GPR sensors can work simultaneously or separately. The operator can use the system easily with a simplified user interface. The system is ready for use in seconds and provides increased detection accuracy with improved EMI/GPR sensor units.”
