Reflecting the growing ties between Greece and Israel in the defence sector, as many as 13 Israeli companies and organizations will attend the upcoming DEFEA Exhibition in Athens from July 13-15.
The participation of the companies, under a national pavilion, will be coordinated by SIBAT, the International Defense Cooperation Directorate of the Israel Ministry of Defence. SIBAT, which maintains a close relationship with Israel’s defense industry, provides local companies with a clear understanding of the Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) operational needs besides facilitating international cooperation.
Besides organizing Israel national pavilions at international exhibitions, SIBAT provides a variety of other services to the local defence industry, including identifying opportunities for cooperation and joint ventures involving the Israel defense industry and international companies. The organization also initiates visits of official foreign delegations, takes the lead in generating government–to-government agreements, locates technological solutions for specific requirements, SIBAT also is involved in marketing and sales of IDF inventory.
The companies from Israel participating in DEFEA are Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, Elbit Systems, Aeronautics Group, Aitech Systems, Astronautics C.A., Bet Shemesh Engines, Elbit Systems, Emtan Karmiel, Nir-Or Israel, Israel Weapon Industries, Plasan, and Smart Shooter.
IAI’s portfolio includes air and missile defense, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), ground robotics, precision-guided weapons, and loitering munitions. The company also delivers special-mission aircraft, modernize military aircraft and helicopters, and convert passenger jets into cargo aircraft. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has pioneered advances in defense, cyber and security solutions for air, land, sea, and space. Elbit Systems and its subsidiaries operates in the areas of aerospace, land, and naval systems, command, control, communications, computers, intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (“C4ISR”), unmanned aircraft systems, advanced electro-optics, electro-optic space systems, EW suites, signal intelligence systems, data links and communications systems, radios and cyber-based systems and munitions.
Aeronautics Group is a leading developer and manufacturer of defense solutions based on unmanned-aerial systems and advanced ISTAR systems. Aitech provides reliable, rugged COTS boards and embedded systems on industry-standard, open architectures VMEbus, VPX, CompactPCI and high-speed serial fabric-based computers and subsystems for use in defense, aerospace and space flight applications. Bet Shemesh Engines Ltd (BSEL) manufactures jet engine parts, provides MRO services, and delivers small jet engines self – developed for UAVs. Emtan Karmiel manufactures small arms, guns and weapons while Nir-Or designs develops, manufactures, and integrates electronic systems and products for a vast range of military applications at land, air, and sea.
Israel Weapon Industries’ weapons include the new Carmel & Arad AR, X95 (AR & SMG), and the DAN Bolt Action Sniper Rifle.
