EDGE Group has launched the Radar and Electronic Warfare (EW) Centre of Excellence, and the Electro Optic Centre of Excellence (EOCE) in Abu Dhabi, on Thursday (Jun. 13). These new centres are an expansion of the existing facilities, aiming to consolidate the Group's core capabilities in these vital areas. This move is in line with the UAE's broader vision and EDGE's growth strategy, and it supports the commercial goals of all 35 entities within the group.
“This strategic move, consolidating capabilities to streamline product delivery and drive innovation in a single location, captures EDGE's DNA and core mission of transforming the defence industry. By establishing Centres of Excellence for Radar and Electronic Warfare (EW), and Electro-Optics, we will fuel the development of sophisticated solutions,” said Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO, EDGE Group.
“This allows us to continuously adapt and deliver tailored, high-performance products at competitive prices. We also plan to expand with additional CoEs, capitalising on emerging technologies and evolving customer needs,” he added.
The Group's decision to centralise its advanced capabilities is expected to streamline product delivery, foster the development of innovative technologies, and provide customised solutions to end-users. This centralisation will not only enhance company efficiencies but also offer advanced Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) systems, Radar and Electronic Warfare solutions to clients. It will also serve as a central hub for research and development, product development, serial production, and maintenance.
Moreover, it will enable the integration of sophisticated technologies across EDGE's entire solutions portfolio. The CoEs will leverage growth opportunities and knowledge exchange within its diverse advanced technology and defence ecosystem, and through partnerships and recently signed joint ventures.
Each CoE will be under the guidance of a trusted Board of Advisors, drawn from across EDGE Group’s five core clusters: Platforms & Systems, Missiles & Weapons, Space & Cyber Technologies, Trading & Mission Support and Homeland Security. The Board will supervise technology roadmaps, ensure alignment with company and customer objectives, and facilitate the efficient transfer of specialised technologies and systems across entities.
