The Management and Operational Centre of the Amazon Protection System (CENSIPAM), an agency under Brazil’s Ministry of Defence, has expressed interest in acquiring a secure communications system. The intent was formalised through a letter of intent signed at Mostra BID Brasil in Brasília, which runs until 5 December 2024.
The system is a collaboration between EDGE, a global advanced technology and defence group, and SIATT, a Brazilian company specialising in smart weapons and advanced defence systems. EDGE owns a 50 percent stake in SIATT.
The proposed system integrates EDGE’s KATIM X3M ultra-secure smartphone, SIATT’s satellite communication (SATCOM) link and command-and-control software, and radios provided by the Brazilian Military Material Industry. It features an open-architecture design, allowing interoperability and the integration of related technologies to support secure information exchange.
According to EDGE, the system is tailored for use in challenging and remote operational settings, offering reliable and highly secure communication solutions. It is designed to meet the needs of CENSIPAM and other users in Brazil and Latin America.
