EDGE’s ORYXLABS Signs MoU with UAE Cyber Security Council to Boost Digital Security

EDGE entity ORYXLABS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UAE Cyber Security Council during GITEX Global 2024, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. This agreement formalises collaboration between the two parties on information security, focusing on sharing insights on security risks and jointly addressing cybersecurity incidents.

The MoU builds on previous joint efforts, particularly through the release of the State of the Nation: GCC Report at the same event. The report offers a comprehensive overview of cybersecurity challenges within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, highlighting the need for coordinated measures to strengthen cyber resilience.

Sumit Dhar, CEO of ORYXLABS, remarked, “Our collaboration with the UAE Cyber Security Council, demonstrated through the in-depth State of the Nation: GCC report and reinforced by today’s MoU, establishes a clear framework to enhance information security and strengthen digital resilience across the UAE and the wider region. By aligning efforts, we are better positioned to address security risks, close identified gaps, and safeguard critical infrastructure and national assets from emerging cyber threats.”

Dr. Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti, Head of the Cybersecurity Council, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, emphasising the importance of strengthening public-private sector collaboration to protect national and regional digital infrastructure. He noted that cybersecurity is a cornerstone of digital transformation, which requires flexibility to adapt to rapid technological changes that bring both challenges and opportunities.

The State of the Nation: GCC Report provided critical insights into the region’s cybersecurity landscape. The report, which covers 2 million domains across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait, analysed over 13 million data points to evaluate email security and identify gaps in current cybersecurity measures. It also underscored the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing national cybersecurity efforts.

ORYXLABS is known for developing software to monitor, protect, and assess digital environments. Its products include DNS FIREWALL and DISCOVERY, which focus on risk assessment, attack surface management, and DNS monitoring.
