Elbit Systems Promotes the JHMCS/Targo Family

Our Bureau - : Oct 18, 2023 - : 1:43 pm

The Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS)/Targo Family is one of the many capabilities that Elbit Systems has brought to the ongoing Show.

The JHMCS/Targo Family is the helmet mounted system of choice for fixed wing aircraft. It is operational on a number of fighter jets including the KF-21,F-15,F-15K, F-16, KF-16, F-18, F-35, Rafale F3R, and Gripen E/F.

The Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) is a product of RCEVS, a joint venture between Elbit Systems and Rockwell Collins. It provides the pilot with “first look, first shoot” high off-boresight weapons engagement capabilities. The system, also available in a night configuration, enables the pilot to accurately cue onboard weapons and sensors against enemy aircraft and ground targets without the need to aggressively turn the aircraft or place the target in the Head-Up Display (HUD) for designation.

While JHMCS II is light weight, with minimal installation footprint, the D-JHMCS delivers advanced video and color capabilities both for day and night missions. TARGO II HMS technology transmits aircraft avionics to the pilot’s helmet, enabling pilots to plan, rehearse, fly and debrief using their personal helmets. This provides them with increased situational awareness, safety levels and operational abilities. According to the company, Targo is available in a stand-alone configuration or fully integrated with the aircraft’s avionics, including the Embedded Virtual Avionics (EVA) training solution.

The company is also showcasing SkyStriker, an autonomous loitering munition (LM) that can locate, acquire and strike operator designated targets with a 5 or 10 Kg warhead installed inside the fuselage. Capable of long-range precise tactical strikes, SkyStriker provides maneuverable troops and Special Forces with direct-fire aerial-precision capabilities, enhancing situational awareness and survivability.

In September this year, the company announced that it had been awarded a US$95 million contract to supply SkyStriker to a European country. As part of the contract Elbit Systems will provide several hundred SkyStriker units.
