Embraer E195-E2 ‘TechLion’ Visits Japan for Embraer Day Event

Our Bureau - : Nov 15, 2022 - : 11:07 am

The Embraer E195-E2 is on display at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport today as part of a two-day industry conference. The event, organised by Embraer, is set to deepen relationships with Embraer’s airline partners.

Embraer E-Jets are the dominant aircraft family in the sub-150 seat category in Japan with 48 of the first-generation E-Jets operated by Japan Airlines and Fuji Dream Airlines to connect over 30 cities across the country. The single-aisle jets have an 80% share of the US regional market with over 600 E-Jets in service.

“We thank our airline customers in Japan for bringing out the best of the E-Jets since beginning revenue operations in the country in 2009,” said Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer of Embraer Commercial Aviation. “We are proud to see how the reliable E-Jets have played an important role in enhancing regional connectivity in Japan and continue to provide airlines the flexibility to optimally scale capacity to demand.”

At the Embraer Day conference, guests will be updated on the latest developments of the E-Jets E2 programme. Airlines such as KLM, Helvetic Airways (operating for SWISS) and Azul operate the E-Jets E2 family of aircraft, and soon with new operators, including Royal Jordanian, Salam Air and TUI, were recently announced.

“We look forward to exhibiting the features of the E195-E2 to Japan’s aerospace leaders, including its outstanding performance, minimal noise and fuel emissions and low operation costs,” said Raul Villaron, Asia Pacific Vice President for Embraer Commercial Aviation.

In addition to the replacement of older aircraft, Embraer foresees part of the country’s existing large narrow-body aircraft fleet right-sizing to sub-150 seat aircraft to create a market demand for around 120 new deliveries in the sub-150 seat aircraft category over the next 20 years.

Last week, the E190-E2 was granted its Type Certificate by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Te E-Jets E2 family made its debut landing at London’s City Airport (LCY) in July, demonstrating the aircraft’s steep approach capability. Additionally, in June, having already been certified for operations using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blends of up to 50%, the E2 successfully completed a test flight using 100% SAF.
