Embraer Defense & Security and ST Engineering announced a collaborative agreement on Thursday (Mar. 14). The agreement is aimed at exploring future opportunities for cooperation in key areas such as engineering, maintenance, and support services for the C-390 Millennium multi-mission transport aircraft across the Asia Pacific region.
This partnership also extends to other products and services including radars, land systems, C4ISTAR, border security, simulation, and advanced production methodologies, thereby enhancing ST Engineering’s capabilities portfolio in South America.
The foundation of this collaboration rests upon a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked in February during the Singapore Airshow 2024, further solidifying Embraer’s expanding presence in the aerospace and defence sector through strategic alliances.
“We see strong synergies between ST Engineering’s capabilities in defence and the MRO sector and Embraer Defense & Security’s complete line of integrated solutions and we look forward to fostering stronger ties with ST Engineering,” said Bosco da Costa Junior, President & CEO, Embraer Defense & Security. “The C-390 Millennium is a flagship product for Embraer Defense & Security, and it received a lot of attention at the recent Singapore Airshow. We look forward to growing our customer base in the region.”
The C-390 Millennium is notable for its ability to carry a substantial payload (26 tons), coupled with faster speeds (470 knots) and extended-range flights. Its versatility allows it to undertake various missions such as cargo and troop transportation, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, and humanitarian operations, even on temporary or unpaved runways like packed earth, soil, and gravel. Notably, the aircraft has garnered selection by countries including South Korea, the Czech Republic, Austria, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Brazil.
With a current fleet amassing over 11,500 flight hours, boasting operational availability of approximately 80% and mission completion rates exceeding 99%, the C-390 Millennium demonstrates remarkable productivity within its category.
ST Engineering’s defence capabilities span a wide spectrum of solutions, ranging from engineering aircraft and avionics upgrades to the design and construction of battlefield mobility platforms, soldier systems, ammunition, and naval vessels. As an authorised service centre for several OEMs, ST Engineering’s Defense Aerospace business offers a comprehensive array of maintenance support and solutions, including aircraft modernisation for global customers, supporting platforms from combat fighters to transport and trainer aircraft, as well as helicopters.
