Indonesia’s state-owned enterprise, PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) also known as Indonesian Aerospace (IAe) is one of the largest aerospace firms in the Southeast Asia region. PTDI is showcasing its aerospace prowess at the ongoing show with scale models of its N219 Amphibious version, N219, CN235-220, NC212i, KFX/IFX and Medium Altitude Long Endurance Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (MALE UAV) Elang Hitam. In an exclusive interview to Atul Chandra, Irlan Budiman, PTDI Corporate Secretary provides insights into ongoing programmes at the Indonesian airframer.

PTDI as the Indonesian Industrial Participant (IIP) is participating in the Engineering Work Package (EWP) as part of the Engineering & Manufacturing Development (EMD) activities carried out at PTDI facility, in the form of analysis and design for the KFX/IFX structure with direct supervision of the Korean Aerospace Industry (KAI) senior engineers. This work was completed in September 2022. PTDI is also participating in the Aircraft Component Manufacturing (ACM) prototype component production Activities. This work is being carried out at PTDI and is specifically related to some of the metal components of the aircraft’s wing and tail. PTDI is also producing pylon components for prototype aircraft 1 to 6. The ACM phase is planned to be completed by the end of this year. PTDI engineers have already been dispatched to KAI in Sacheon to participate in the aircraft engineering and manufacturing development.
