: Jan 16, 2014 - : 9:58 pm

Garuda Indonesia is set to join the SkyTeam alliance in March, to become the 20th member. “Joining SkyTeam marks another significant milestone in the company’s development, as we are now entering the stage of being a global player,” said Emirsyah Satar, Garuda president & CEO.

The Indonesian airline is now returning to the fold of established players after a few years in the wilderness and restrictions over flight permits.

“Garuda is on target to meet all the membership criteria required by SkyTeam, including implementing a new IT platform and customer-focused initiatives,” said Michael Wisbrun, SkyTeam’s managing director.
