JAL battery warning

: Nov 20, 2013 - : 12:45 am

Japan Airlines (JAL) reported a lithium battery warning indicator light came on in the cockpit of one of its 787 Dreamliners flying from Helsinki to Tokyo.

The battery, the same type as the one that caught fire in Boston and grounded the 787 fleet worldwide, apparently did not overheat or emit smoke, but the monitoring indicator showed trouble with the connection to the plane’s auxiliary power unit.

The airline reported that “the voltage and electrical current were within normal range and there was no effect on the remainder of the flight.”
