JODDB Signs Deals Worth USD70 Million

Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB) and its subsidiaries have signed and activated a number of cooperation agreements and sales contracts at the ongoing SOFEX2022.

JODDB spokesman and Head of the Sales and Business Strategy Department, Rateb Abu Al-Ragheb announced that several purchase contracts for defence systems and security solutions made by JODDB and its subsidiaries were concluded and activated with many local and international companies and organizations worth about USD70 million.

The contracts included the supply of many armies, security agencies and defense manufacturers with armoured military and security tactical vehicles and related equipment, in addition to, ambulances, jamming and anti-drone systems. The contracts also included the supply of
personal protective gear (bulletproof helmets, vests and plates) and multiple weapons and ammunition and night vision sights.

In terms of services, multiple contracts were signed with a number of major defence industry companies in the Middle East to provide test and evaluation services and specialized courses in the fields of defence, cybersecurity and future technology projects.

Abu Al-Ragheb also emphasized that JODDB, in light of its strategic plans to expand the localisation of defence industries and advanced technologies, signed more than 10 cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding with several local and international entities and companies with the aim of transferring and exchanging technology and knowledge, and enhancing localization in the fields of defence and security industries, future technologies and cybersecurity.

Abu Al-Ragheb stated that some of these agreements were aimed at enhancing the integration between the public and private sectors and supporting local startups.

Important Deals Inked

A memorandum of understanding was signed between JODDB and the Military Uniforms Factory of the Military Industries Corporation
in Saudi Arabia. The agreement states that JODDBs Test and Evaluation Center is the authorized party to test the factory’s products of helmets, vests and protective plates in order to confirm the products conformity to the international standards, which enables the factory to market its products.

Abu Al-Ragheb added that JODDBs Test and Evaluation center is a state-of-the art center and one of its kind in the Middle East in terms of the used technologies and equipment, the accumulated experience and the good reputation of its staff. This paved the way for the center to get accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to perform more than 400 standard tests. Consequently, JODDB became the reference for several organizations and manufacturers in the region in this matter.

JAWS and Colt’s Manufacturing

Jordan Armament and Weapon Systems (JAWS), one of Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB) subsidiaries, signed a memorandum of understanding with an American company, Colt’s Manufacturing LLC, which specializes in the design, development and manufacturing of light weapons.
This agreement comes within the framework of enhancing cooperation between the two companies in terms of experience and knowledge
exchange, especially in the field of converting M16 rifles to M4 rifles. The agreement offers the possibility for further discussions regarding enhancing the capabilities of local manufacturing of light weapon systems in the future. The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the show. This cooperation is expected to play a key role in JODDB`s efforts to develop a sustainable and self-sufficient defence industries sector in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan by supporting the localization of defence products manufacturing.

With Doctor GT

Rateb Abu Al-Ragheb also announced that an agreement of understanding was signed between JODDB and Doctor GT, one of the Jordanian startups. As per the agreement, JODDB adopted the production of a system for vehicle tracking, fleet management and maintenance for military and civil applications.

The system is programmed in Arabic, analyzes information and provides the necessary data based on algorithms developed by Jordanian youth. JODDB displays a model of the system on an ambulance within JODDB pavilion. The signing of this agreement comes within JODDB`s strategy to support innovation and creativity of Jordanian startups, promote distinguished startups and transform creative ideas into viable products and solutions to benefit from the capabilities of Jordanian youth.

JODDB and Jordanian Green Circle Come Together

Abu Al-Ragheb also announced that a memorandum of understanding has been signed between JODDB and the Jordanian Green Circle Company in the field of cybersecurity. The signing of the memorandum aims at promoting the integration between the public and private sectors in raising the level of national awareness in this field through courses, competitions and services that will be provided in cooperation between the two parties. It was agreed to launch a guiding framework to inform those interested in the field of cybersecurity of the best practices to reach professionalism.
