Kingfishing for debts

Indian LCC Kingfisher, which suspended operations last October, gave customers an assurance that refunds or replacement tickets would be offered on any unfulfilled travel.

However, reports indicate that exasperated booking agencies including including Expedia, Make-MyTrip, Yatra and other online operations are refunding customers directly – and will chase Kingfisher for the owed amounts.

“In many cases, travel agents are refunding the amount to the customers at their end and pursuing the airline to clear the dues,” noted Subash Goyal, president of the Indian Association of Tour Operators.
