Korean Air Marks 30 Years of San Francisco Service

Our Bureau - : Oct 30, 2024 - : 10:45 pm

On 29 October, Korean Air celebrated the 30th anniversary of its San Francisco route, marking three decades of flights between Korea and the Californian city.

In recognition of the milestone, the airline offered a round-trip economy class ticket between San Francisco and Seoul Incheon to the 30th passenger checking in for Seoul-bound flight KE024. All passengers on this flight received anniversary gifts, which included a tote bag designed by the Korean Association of New York Artists and Ghirardelli chocolates, a noted San Francisco treat.

Reflecting on the occasion, Jin Ho Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Americas Regional Headquarters at Korean Air, said, “On this significant occasion, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our customers for their unwavering support over the past 30 years and for choosing Korean Air for their travels.”

“We are excited to continue connecting Korea and San Francisco and providing our customers with exceptional services in the years to come.”

The airline will also host a dinner in downtown San Francisco on 30 October, attended by representatives from Korean Air, the Korean Consulate, industry partners, key travel agencies, and media.

Korean Air launched its San Francisco service on 29 October 1994, originally operating flights from Gimpo Airport to San Francisco International Airport. Since then, it has maintained at least seven flights a week, facilitating connections and supporting economic exchange, particularly in sectors such as IT and semiconductors, by improving access to Silicon Valley.

In 2023, the San Francisco route became Korean Air’s second most popular on the U.S. West Coast, with approximately 176,000 passengers. Widebody aircraft, such as the Boeing 777, are used on this route to enhance passenger comfort.
