Leonardo has signed preliminary sales contracts for more than 50 of its new AW09 helicopters, the Italian defence company said, without providing a value for the orders.
The agreements were announced at the Heli-Expo 2023 trade fair in Atlanta, Georgia. Among the customers are Aero Service Representação in Brazil, Synerjet Latina SA in Colombia, Peru and Chile, Helitech Asia in South-East Asia, Safomar in South Africa, Diskopsa in Panama and Guatemala, Heliflite in Australasia, and Aero Facility in Japan.
Leonardo will work with Metro Aviation, one of the largest private helicopter emergency medical service companies in the United States, as part of the development of the AW09.

Rotorcraft companies highly welcome the AW09 for its outstanding features and multirole capabilities that represent a significant evolution compared to existing products in this category.”
