LIG Nex1 Attracts Attention with New RCWS

Our Bureau - : Sep 1, 2022 - : 10:31 am

South Korean firm LIG Nex1 unveiled its new remote controlled weapon station (RCWS) at the ongoing show and is hopeful of it becoming popular in the market, both domestically and internationally.

The yet-to-be-named RCWS is capable of being configured both as an anti-tank weapon or as a short-range air defence system. As an anti-tank weapon, it will be equipped with LIG Nex1 Raybolt anti-tank guided missiles, while the latter version will have the company’s Chiron short-range air defence missiles. A 12.7 mm cannon made by South Korean firm SNT Motiv is a common feature in both configurations.

While the new RCWS is a concept prototype, the company is optimistic about it finding favour with the Republic of Korea Armed Forces as well as in the international market.

At the show, the company is also displaying the Korean GPS-Guided Bomb (KGGB), which was developed in collaboration with South Korea’s Agency for Defense Development for the country’s air force.
