The Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE) Corporation, one of the 100 largest industrial enterprises in Turkey, is showcasing a wide range of products at the ongoing SAHA Expo.
Being displayed for the first time at SAHA Expo is MKE’s 120 mm Mortar/Tank Weapon System. Speaking to Daily News an MKE official said development of this new artillery system was ongoing with testing underway. The canon is designed to be integrated within an Armored Vehicle Mounted Turret System.
The official said this was the first time that the artillery gun is being displayed in public. Testing of the weapon commenced last year and greater information on the development and testing of this weapon system is expected to be released in time for IDEF 2025.
The 120 mm Mortar/Tank Weapon System can fire two different types of ammunition: MOD 300 tank High Explosive (HE-T MOD 300) and MOD 308 mortar high explosive (HE MOD 308) ammunition. With this capability, both line-of-sight (LOS) and Beyond Line-of-Sight (BLOS) shots can be fired from a single weapon system. The 120 mm Mortar/Tank Weapon System features a Bore Diameter of 120 mm, Barrel Length of 3800 mm and has a Barrel Weight of 850 kg
