Nexter and Indonesian State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) PT Len Industri (PT Len) signed a multiannual In-Service Support (ISS) contract for the CAESAR self-propelled howitzer (SPH) fleet in service within the Indonesian Army (TNI-AD) on the closing day of the Eurosatory defense show (June 17).

The ISS support package includes on-site technical assistance, delivery of spare parts, and training to ensure the highest readiness of the Nexter-made SPH fleet for the benefit of the Indonesian Army.

“We are very proud to initiate a fruitful collaboration with PT Len for the maintenance of the CAESAR fleet. This is a first step in Nexter’s ambition to develop local support and provide best possible services to the Indonesian Army,” said Jean-Michel GIRARD, Nexter’s Vice-President of the customer services business unit. “Nexter strongly believes in building a strong and long-term industrial partnership with national defence industries for the highest satisfaction of the Indonesian end users.” he added.

“We are pleased to collaborate with Nexter, a world class trusted company, for this long-term partnership. It is an important step to strengthen Len’s position in defence industry,” said a written statement from PT Len. “We are both ready to maintain the CAESAR artillery system in order to deliver an excellent service to the Indonesian army.”

Nexter has been awarded two contracts from the Indonesian Ministry of Defense in 2012 and 2017 for the company’s CAESAR SPH to equip the Indonesian Army. The service is now operating a total of 55 Nexter-made truck-mounted SPH.

During Eurosatory 2022, the French company also signed another agreement to produce 120 mm caliber ammunition for the Indonesian Army with the Indonesian SOE PT Pindad.
