Yulian Ardiansyah - : Apr 29, 2022 - : 1:24 am

Turkish defence company, Otokar, is offering its COBRA II 4×4 Tactical Wheeled Armoured Vehicle for the Philippine Army’s Light Tactical Vehicle procurement programme.

First introduced into service in 2013, the COBRA II 4×4 is a further development of Otokar’s COBRA tactical vehicle that has been in service since 1997. Compared to its predecessor, COBRA II has improved armor protection and a more powerful engine due to an increase in weight to almost double the original version.

With a weight of around 12,000 kg, COBRA II is powered by a 280 hp, 6,700 cc water-cooled, turbocharged diesel engine, giving it a maximum speed of about 110 km/h. It has a capacity for nine personel including a driver and a vehicle commander.

The COBRA II is also able to be armed with a variety of roof-mounted weapons from a manually operated machine gun, to 30 mm cannon or 40 mm grenade launcher in an RCWS mount.
