The organisers of the Pacific Future Forum 2021, the annual defence, security, trade and technology summit, have announced a change of location and date for the event.
“Due to the ongoing global uncertainty and tightening travel restrictions in the Indo-Pacific region caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we have taken the decision to move the location and date of this year’s Pacific Future Forum,” said Lord Sedwill, Chairman of the Pacific Future Forum. “It will now take place on board HMS Prince of Wales in Portsmouth on the 20th October and 21st October 2021.”
The Pacific Future Forum, delivered in partnership with the UK government, was supposed to take place on board HMS Queen Elizabeth in the Republic of Korea from August 31 to September 2.
“The Pacific Future Forum remains one of the flagship government events of 2021 and an important moment for the UK to demonstrate its renewed commitment, involvement and investment in the Indo-Pacific,” Lord Sedwill said. “The Forum will continue to focus on this critically important region and will bring together senior decision makers and distinguished thought-leaders from around the world to explore some of the most crucial issues of the day in technology, trade, defence, energy and security.”
Alongside the G7 meeting and COP 26, the Pacific Future Forum 2021 is one of the UK Government’s keynote international events for 2021. The event will bring together pre-eminent thinkers, senior decision-makers, and other leading personalities from across the public and private sectors to explore the most crucial issues of the day in technology, trade, defence, energy and security.
The Pacific Future Forum is also supported by a number of commercial partners including BAE Systems, Boeing, Hanwha, Frazer-Nash Consultancy, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Northrop Grumman, QinetiQ and Raytheon Technologies.
